I had a fantastic time in Lithuania. My visit took place over two days and I managed to see Kaunas and Vilnius. I had previously asked for advice on how to fit as much of Kaunas into one morning.
It was very good advice and I even had time left over to visit the Akropolis shopping centre. I flew into Kaunas on Saturday night. I found the hostel and went out to explore Laisves aleya the main street.
Next morning I woke up early. I walked along the banks of the Nemunas river to the old town. There was a path that went straight down by the river.
Only for the last part of the journey to the old town did I walk down there. There were some fishermen fishing early in the morning. As I walked past one of them holding a beer can asked me something in Lithuanian.
Instinct told me not to answer and I shrugged politely looking confused. Then he started calling out a word that in Spanish French and Italian I know means prostitute not sure about in Lithuanian Maybe it was because I didn t answer him but I thought it was best to walk fast and get back on to the main road.
